Saturday Review

Today I have a very special guest blogger…my daughter, Emily.

Sorting through some papers and I found a copy of a presentation to her speech class shortly after she turned twelve. How could I not share that?

..I have one older brother, Andrew. He’s a nerd. He will sit two feet away from his friend and chat on Facebook with him. One time he drove a remote control car over me when I was little.

And one time — oh, wait, two times — she bit him so hard you could see the individual tooth marks in the bruise. Somehow she never saw the problem in that, but she is still talking about the time he drove the RC car over her. (Of which she has no memory.)

Sugar and I don’t mix well. One of my friends is just like me – we are fine by ourselves, but if you put us together then it is like someone put an entire package of Mentos in a 20 ounce Diet Coke. Everyone run away — fast!

Some things never change.

…we went to New York and we were really lucky we were on the Today Show. You know when Al Roeker comes around to all the people who came out to see it live? Well, he came over to us and my brother was a camera hog. I got to say my name and that was it.

What do you expect from someone who would drive a remote control car over their baby sister?

I really want to be a professional dancer when I grow up. And I don’t care what any of you say – ballet is a sport, but it is also an art form. It takes an athlete to dance, but an artist to be a dancer.

Some things never change.

Do you know how hard it is to get lip gloss out of your eyebrows?

I don’t even….

She never goes out without a tiara.
